WASHING WINDOWS WHEN IT’S SUNNY
A warm, sunny day look ideal to scrub the dust off your windows, but hey, it’s not! Sure you will choose to clean the windows when it is sunny because the cleaning solutions you use will dry/evaporate quickly.
One of the things you should always take note in cleaning is the finishing. What happens when you clean when it’s sunny is that, the solution used in cleaning gets dry almost instantly leaving the glass with a streaky mess – the motion of the rag used to rub the glass.
Solution
Clean windows when the weather is cooler because the window won’t get the direct sunlight, give this a try and tell the difference.
Because the solution does not get dry instantly, you are able to see the mess and clean off before it gets dry.

SPRAYING CLEANERS DIRECTLY ONTO THE SURFACE YOU’RE CLEANING
Not all surfaces can be cleaned the same way, some are more delicate than others. Spraying a cleaner directly onto a surface can be too harsh.
What happens when you spray cleaners onto a surface is that more of the cleaning solution is released into the air. This can be having an adverse effect on people with asthma or allergies.
Solution
Spray your cleaner onto a cleaning cloth, and then wipe the surface. On the other side, you are preventing waste, that’s efficiency for you!

CLEANING SMOOTH AND SHINNING SURFACES IN CIRCULAR MOTIONS
Cleaning equipment/gadget made with steel can be awkward when it comes to cleaning.
Let’s take, for instance, if you wipe stainless steel (fridges, cookers) surface using circular motions, you’ll likely see those marks once the cleaner dries.
Cleaning steel in the wrong motion is one of the reasons why some equipment/gadget loses its shine and overall beauty.
Solutions
Identify the direction of the grain in the stainless steel; that direction is what you should follow. If you don’t, it will be a lot easier for dirt and cleaning chemicals to build-up on the surface which will make it lose its shine. It makes a big difference!
What is grain in stainless? Stainless steel has a wood-like grain to it. Look closely at your appliance or countertop and you will see some faint lines running along the finish. (Check when you can)

USING JUST ONE CLEANING RAG FOR HOUSE CLEANING
Using one rag to clean the house is another of the mistakes made when cleaning. Some people use just one rag for cleaning the ceiling fan, the same for furniture and windows. Then they take a step further to use it for cleaning the tiles? That’s not a good thing to do if what you want is a clean house!
You might want to say “after all am washing the rag” when you use the same rag in multiple spots around the house, the dirt from the previous surface spreads to whichever surface it touches next.
What this means in the case of Bathroom-Kitchen cleaning is that germs from the bathroom get wiped onto kitchen counters, the living room, dining table and anywhere else that cloth is used.
Solutions
Get a towel each for each surface cleaned, or have a microfiber (hand towel) cleaning cloth designated for each area of your home.
Microfiber cleaning cloths can be tossed in the laundry or thoroughly washed after each use to remove dirt or sludge.

NOT CLEANING THE VACUUM
Well, not everyone has the Vacuum cleaner, but for the ones that have, they often leave the vacuum filter uncleaned for sometimes. Knowing how the vacuum works, it picks up much dirt and dust.
Once you refuse to clean the dirt and dust that have been accumulated, it will reduce the suction and instead blowback the dust and dirt on the rug, chair, carpet or wherever you are using it via the vent.
Solution
Do the obvious! Unplugged the vacuum cleaning and change or empty vacuum bags or container immediately after they become full.
Dissemble vacuum attachments for cleaning; the hose, and the vent with a damp or moist towel and allow drying before coupling the attachments back.

PUTTING THE TOILET BRUSH IN ITS HOLDER IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE
When we use the toilet, we often pick up the brush to scrub the closet, and instinctively, we return the brush straight to the brush holder. One might see this as okay, but it’s a wrong thing to do!
What happens when we do this is that the germs and water from the toilet remain in the container which breeds some infectious diseases. When you want to use the brush again, you are simply rubbing the germs back into your toilet.
Solution
After scrubbing, allow the toilet brush to dry completely before returning it to its holder.
